We have been sitting here and going over the events of this month and have been SHOCKED to discover –
That we arent excited about hitting our goals.
We set ourselves a money goal for this month that we hit almost without realising despite being a stretch for us to get, and I casually commented to Stacey this morning in the car that we reached it 2 days ago.
And we both reacted like “Oh, that’s cool” before moving onto the next item on our to-do list.
About 20 minutes later we both looked at each other simultaneously (we often do this, its crazy how in sync we are) with wide eyes and said –
“Holy shit! Do you realise we arent excited to hit our goal?”
When this happens it always sparks a passionate and colourful rant involving lots of over the top hand signals and nose scrunching moments where we allow the emotion to flow through us once again.
We began to review this month and saw that during a rough patch in the second week, we allowed ourselves to get caught up in the story of lack and scarcity.
The story that there isn’t enough for us to have EXACTLY what we want financially and success wise…
The story that its easier for others and that we are doing it tougher…
The story that what’s happening “out there” in the world is the reason for us not seeing results…

We dont always “feel like it”… We dont always want to do the work –
But we do.
Sometimes full of passion and life and energy…
And sometimes with the brain fog that comes with waking multiple times a night to a teething baby…
And suddenly, almost under the radar –
BAM! Goal hit. So quietly and without noticing that we almost miss it!
It’s EXACTLY the same with weight loss and your body beautiful.
Your results are NEVER to do with what’s “real” or what’s “happening”…
It is ALWYS to do with your SELF BELIEF that you have to change it.
You see once you drop the stories, you are free to realise the truth –
That you can always, Always, ALWAYS take one more step towards what you want.
As long as you get up EVERY day and do the work – do the workout, eat the foods, skip the processed crap, work on your mindset –
Suddenly, without even noticing until your friends point it out –
You HAVE that body you always wanted.
“Real” is nothing.
BELIEF and ACTION are everything.

I’ll explain this in a moment, but first, THIS –
Who made this whole weight loss thing so fucking boring? When did it become about eating restrictive diets and not being allowed to listen to your body when its tellin’ you it needs sumthin?
We have had a sort of rut going this past few weeks based on a huge workload coupled with the usual kid and life challenges where you dont sleep enough but the world doesnt care and still expects you to be your usual 10 out of 10 self.
And as I sat here this morning doing my journaling I again came back to what we always know about life, weight loss and business –
Focus your attention on what feels good for you.
If you want an amazing body – dont focus on what it looks like in the mirror.
Focus on making choices and taking action that makes you FEEL good.
So, the desert island test –
If you were on a desert island, all alone with no chance of anyone seeing you, would how your abs looked matter that much? Would it matter enough to focus on how you cant see them and get frustrated with how long its taking and how you’ve been “good” and…and…?
If it were me – no.
Id still want to FEEL good…
But i really wouldn’t care that much how my stomach looked.
It doesnt mean dont have aesthetic goals – these are still fine. But they come from making choices that make you feel good.
It also doesnt mean you avoid hard work. While im training and my muscles are in pain and my heart is threatening to burst, sure, it doesnt feel comfortable. But that doesnt mean I dont enjoy the challenge. It doesnt mean that you cant find joy in working through pain.
Whenever I say do what makes you feel good, the whingey whiney do nothings of the world always sarcastically say “i feel like eating doughnuts…” or “I feel like cake…”
That’s also what my 4 year old says…
What really makes you feel good?
A killer workout can.
Intimacy without doubt or self judgement can.
The right foods for your body can.
And even sometimes a piece of cake can too.
Look lovely, this journey to your ideal body can go down one of two ways –
Either its a drudge, with lots of effort and constant focus on forcing your body to “burn calories”…
You do more and more of what makes you feel good. REALLY makes you feel good – makes you feel connected and alive and excited and like you are growing and levelling up.
I know what im choosing.
Yesterday was an epic day of filming and writing coupled with some truly frustrating parenting moments with a child on a come down as we build this business in the cracks of life.
You know the cracks? Those moments where the kids sleep well and play their own games without the need for you to entertain them and the phone doesnt ring and some how you manage to get all the “stuff” of life done and then spend time working on what’s actually inside of YOU!
Charlize had two birthday parties on the weekend which, since we made the decision long ago to not make her feel left out at social events, meant she ate her weight in glutenous cake, food colouring and sugary drinks and all manner of other things that she doesnt normally eat at home.
Which means a come-down like a motherfucker on Monday or Tuesday as her little body finally rids itself of the junk. In case you wonder how much difference these foods make – we have no doubt that Charlize would be “diagnosed” with some sort of attention deficit disorder if she were to eat it all the time.
This crap food come down is what i can only imagine a drug addict would go through during withdrawal – wild swings between tears, violence, aggression, bargaining, mania, the fetal position and a non stop attempt to drag you into the situation.
On top of this Jett’s teeth have decided to be painful enough to wake him up during all his naps during the day and interrupt his sleep at night which of course means extra feeds and less sleep for Stacey.
And all the while we kept searching for those cracks to do what we love – sharing our message of no rules weight loss in ways that we find inspiring and entertaining.
In the aftermath of the come down when Charlize and Jett were both finally asleep, we sat on the end of the bed, looking somewhat exhausted and worse for wear and talking about how little we got done for the day towards building our dream.
We were both having a little pity party about how tired we were, how frustrated, how unfair it was etc… You know those usual excuses that surface when you want an easy out.
And we both realised something, almost at the same time –
I say realised, but really we both FELT it – it was a body thing not an intellectual thing –
We felt and KNEW that compared to the strength that we have inside us, as well as our unshakable self belief, that these challenges –
Junk food come downs
Waking multiple times a night
Always wanting more money (funny how that never changes no matter how much you earn) –
That this stuff is all dust in the wind compared to what’s inside of you.
You can always go to another level of ability, acceptance, self love, action, commitment and power.
BUT – and its a big but –
You WONT get there if you want to stay attached to the story of how hard, or not enough or I cant.
You have unlimited power to deal with whatever comes up in life, as long as you arent willing to invest in that story, because where your attention goes your energy flows. Your energy can flow into what you want to create, or the story of not being enough.
Focus on what you WANT.
Keep putting one foot after the other.
Until suddenly you look around and are SHOCKED to see that your dream has materialised around you.
