I know when I look at my body there are bits and pieces here and there that I can grab hold of and shake up and down. For instance the good old love handles, the stomach and in between the thighs. (I will get a nice thigh gap again I swear it!) These are my major areas… wouldn’t it be nice if you could do something more targeted (apart from squatting your ass of or crunching til the cows come home)? What if every part of the body was tied to another factor, that could target those areas specifically?

Well let me tell you there is!

How exciting right? Hell yeah!

Today we are going to take a look at the stomach region. It’s one of the hardest areas to ‘get rid of’ especially after you’ve been carrying a human inside of you!

The stomach is related to the hormone cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone, or the hormone that is responsible for the fight or flight mode. It raises blood glucose levels, which can result in increased fat storage around your stomach. Not to mention if you’re stressed, then you are more than likely hunting through the cupboard for something on the not so healthy side ,to make you feel better!

So decreasing this hormone WILL help you lose your tummy fat!

So lets take a look at a few steps that you can implement to start getting your sexy flat tummy, before summer hits.

STEP 1

Sleep a minimum of 8 hours a night, preferably between10pm – 6am. Easier said than done right? Especially with a 7 month old who’s teething! I know how you feel, I haven’t had a full night sleep in a long time! But, if you are not getting quality sleep then this will have an affect on the storage of fat around your mid section. Also no TV, iPads or phones in the bedroom… reserve this space for sleep or fornication that is all!

STEP 2

Eat before you are hungry. Meaning eat around 4-5 meals a day. These meals should consist of a form of protein, to help stabilise your blood sugar levels. It will also decrease your chance, of those nasty fats cells locating themselves in your tummy region

STEP 3

I want you to take a look at the stress in your life. Do you feel anxious or worried constantly? Or feel that you don’t have enough time to get things done? Now ask yourself is it really worth stressing over? Are you going to manage to do it anyway?

Then don’t stress yourself out about it! Be proactive in creating habits that serve you, find time for yourself, relation is paramount. Even if it is only for 10 minutes a day find something that really relaxes you!

STEP 4

Do not over train. While exercise can help you to lose fat it can also raise your cortisol levels if you are doing too much of the wrong kind of exercise. Make sure you implement at least 1 rest day if not 2. Recover is the most important part of weight loss.
